1. Footwear and clothing
The coast does what it likes with weather. Please wear sturdy walking shoes or boots — trainers are fine for the gentler routes, but not for the cliff paths. Layers and a waterproof are almost always a good idea, even in August.
2. Pace and the group
We walk at the pace of the slowest happy walker. If you'd like to go faster, we'll point you to the nearest signposted trail. If you need to slow down or stop, please tell your skipper — that's what they're there for.
3. Children and dogs
Children are welcome on family routes and most gentle walks (please check before booking). Dogs are welcome on the Headland Walk and Hidden Coves Route, on a short lead, as long as they are comfortable around livestock and cliff edges.
4. Cliff edges and tides
The Jurassic Coast is beautiful and unstable. Please stay on the marked path, keep well back from cliff edges, and never climb on rockfall debris. Your skipper carries tide tables and will turn the walk if conditions change.
5. Wildlife and the shore
We don't disturb nesting birds, seals, or marine life. Please don't take anything from the beach except photographs and the occasional piece of sea glass. Fossil hunting is permitted in designated areas only — your skipper will show you where.
6. Phones, cameras, presence
Use them as you like. We do ask that you keep phones on silent and that conversation stays generous. Some of the best moments on these walks are unphotographed.
7. Cancellations and weather
We walk in almost all weather. We will only cancel for genuine safety reasons (severe storms, cliff closures, flooding). If we cancel, you'll be offered a free reschedule or a full refund. If you cancel within 48 hours of the walk, we retain a small holding fee — full details in our Terms.
8. If something goes wrong
Tell your skipper. They are first-aid trained, carry a kit, and have direct lines to the harbourmaster and coastguard. We'd much rather pause a walk early than push through a problem.
